Mirror of Open Street Map to improve File Generator performance

19 September 2026

The Network File Generator uses Open Street Map data to generate the track geometry and infrastructure files. Queries to the public mirrors could be slow and unreliable. A private mirror has now been created to support the file generator, giving a significant improvement in performance. Fine tuning of the generator logic has also improved the reliability of the output.

Network Editor - New Functionality

19 September 2026

The Network Editor has received a number of functionality enhancements. This includes auto-scaling to improve readability, a new merge function that allows two adjacent infrastructures to be efficiently combined, and canvas rotation.

Diamonds, platforms, and uni-directional signalling

16 September 2026

Traxim now accommodates diamonds, un-signalled waypoints such as platforms, and signal locations that only apply in one direction even on bi-directionally signalled track. Full details are in the updated User Manual. Full backward compatibility for old input file formats has been maintained. This release also provides greater flexibility in choosing which nodes to display on the train graph independent of nodes used as timing points in the timetable output, and a new output TrackOccupancy that simplifies capacity calculations.

Traxim User Manual

26 August 2026

User Manual for Traxim released to provide on-the-spot guidance on the best practice use of Traxim, and comprehensive instructions for using the Controller and Network Editor.

Agent Tools for Accessing Traxim

19 August 2026

An MCP connector and a skill file are now available to support use of Traxim by agents. Your agent can now guide you through the full process of designing and running a simulation, and do all of the simulation set-up and control actions. Go to the Tools page to download the skill, and to get set-up instructions for the skill and the connector.

New - Network File Generator Tool

3 April 2026

Automatic generation of track geometry and infrastructure configuration files is now available. The tool queries Open Street Map and converts its rail line data into files suitable for use in Traxim. This tool is available as a new tab in the Centreline tool.

New - Traxim Centreline Tools

16 February 2026

The Traxim Centreline Tools widget supports easy creation of track geometry files. Google Earth Pro's "add path" tool can be used to create a kml file. The widget will then convert this into a track centreline for use with Traxim. The tool also allows Traxim geometry files to be converted back to Google Earth to allow easy visualisation and correlation to physical network features.

Train Graph Viewer - Train Route Mapping Added

13 February 2026

The Train Path Viewer now shows the train route through the network in two forms: as a representation of the train's route through the network for the extent of the network visible in the broswer window, formatted as a strip-map, and; for its route through a local area in a geographically approximate representation. All of the network configuration is as generated in the NetworK Editor. This allows fine control of the network configuration as a hybrid of a geographical and schematic representaion, given good visibility and context.

Improved Network Editor

29 January 2026

The Network Editor has now been improved to provide a more intuitive user experience, better formatting, and to eliminate bugs. The Network Editor also now has the node geopositioning function built-in, making the manual Excel positioning process redunant.

"Live" Emulation - Train History Added to Viewer

7 January 2026

The emulation for Traxim live now includes around two hours of train history. Note that this is purely a synthetic history derived from the projected train location, mildly randomised. In production, this history would represent actual train location.

Traxim Goes Live

24 November 2025

The Traxim resolver is now live. The resolver is currently running in beta mode while testing and bug elimination continues. The resolver can be accessed through the Traxim Controller. This allows files to be uploaded and assembled into scenarios for validation and resolution.
